A long-awaited report by two GOP-led Senate committees lays waste to the Democrat impeachment narrative of last year that Trump administration assertions that Joe and Hunter Biden may be dirty was just a ‘Russian misinformation campaign.’
The year-long probe by the Senate Homeland and Governmental Affairs Committee and the Senate Finance Committee contains explosive allegations just weeks away from what many Americans believe is the most significant, potentially life-altering election in their lifetimes.
According to a summary of the 87-page report, officials within the Obama administration “ignored clear warning signs about ethical conflicts and possible extortion risks involving Joe Biden’s family.”
In particular, the Treasury Department, in a series of Suspicious Activity Reports, flagged millions of dollars exchanged between Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian energy firm on which Hunter Biden sat as a board member, Yelena Baturina, a Russian oligarch, and a Chinese businessman who has ties to the ChiCom government.
“The Treasury records acquired by the Chairmen show potential criminal activity relating to transactions among and between Hunter Biden, his family, and his associates with Ukrainian, Russian, Kazakh and Chinese nationals,” the report says.
In addition, the report also says Obama administration officials “knew” Hunter Biden’s board position was “problematic” and that it disrupted “the efficient execution of policy with respect to Ukraine.”
The report also identifies a range of potential criminal activities that include bribery (by Burisma) and even sex trafficking.
The report, citing U.S. government records, also raised concerns about possible ties to sex and human trafficking rings.
“Hunter Biden paid nonresident women who were nationals of Russia or other Eastern European countries and who appear to be linked to an Eastern European prostitution or human trafficking ring,” the report notes.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, told Just The News that the massive amount of suspicious activity alone puts the former vice president at risk of illicit influence or even extortion should he somehow find a way to steal the election from President Trump.
“The report raises serious questions that former Vice President Biden needs to answer. There are simply too many potential conflict of interest, counterintelligence and extortion threats to ignore,” he said.
In all, officials with the Obama State Department and Treasury Department were mightily concerned that Hunter Biden’s business dealings and a potential $7 million bribe paid by Burisma to Ukrainian prosecutors presented massive conflicts of interest and ethics problems for the vice president.
“The Obama administration knew that Hunter Biden’s position on Burisma’s board was problematic and did interfere in the efficient execution of policy with respect to Ukraine,” the report noted. “Moreover, this investigation has illustrated the extent to which officials within the Obama administration ignored the glaring warning signs when the vice president’s son joined the board of a company owned by a corrupt Ukrainian oligarch.” (Related: Arkansas judge in Hunter Biden’s paternity case suddenly recuses himself as claims of a stock scheme emerge, known as the “China hustle.”)
In sum, Hunter Biden and business partner Devon Archer got more than $4 million from Burisma at a time when the firm was aggressively lobbying the State Department to make corruption allegations that had been hanging over the company for a long time vanish. At times, the firm invoked Hunter Biden’s name to add pressure.
That said, the government’s concerns about Hunter Biden’s global business pursuits were not just limited to Ukraine.
“In addition to the over $4 million paid by Burisma for Hunter Biden’s and Archer’s board memberships, Hunter Biden, his family, and Archer received millions of dollars from foreign nationals with questionable backgrounds,” the report notes.
As for the sensational claims about sex trafficking and potential links to prostitutes, the report largely addressed them in a couple of footnotes.
“There is extensive public reporting concerning Hunter Biden’s alleged involvement with prostitution services. Records on file with the Committees do not directly confirm or refute these individual reports,” said investigators.
“However, they do confirm that Hunter Biden sent thousands of dollars to individuals who have either: 1) been involved in transactions consistent with possible human trafficking; 2) an association with the adult entertainment industry; or 3) potential association with prostitution. Some recipients of those funds are Ukrainian and Russian citizens.”
