Recently, two-time presidential loser Hillary Clinton delighted her shrinking fan base, infuriated Democrats, and made everyone else scratch their heads after she claimed that 2020 Donkey Party presidential contender Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii was a “Russian asset” who is being groomed by Moscow to make a “third-party run.”
“I’m not making any predictions,” Hillary said on a podcast with former Barack Obama aide David Plouffe, as she moved on to making a prediction. “But I think they’ve got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate.
“She’s the favorite of the Russians.”
Gabbard wasn’t the only target of Hillary’s tinfoil hat conspiracy. She repeated the oft-debunked lie that President Trump is also a stooge of Vladimir Putin.
“I don’t know what Putin has on him, whether it’s both personal and financial … I assume it is,” she said.
But wait, as they say on those late-night TV infomercials, there’s more. Hillary also claimed that former Green Party presidential contender Jill Stein was also on Putin’s payroll.
“[Jill Stein’s] also a Russian asset… Yeah, she’s a Russian asset — I mean, totally. They know they can’t win without a third-party candidate,” she said.
In so many words, Hillary Clinton is outta her mind. She’d have to be to say such things with conviction. She knows better than anyone that if Putin was using American political figures to his advantage during the 2016 presidential election cycle, it was her. And hubby Bill Clinton. And the both of them had no problems with it because Russia and Putin enriched them.
That said, Hillary is really just channeling the new mainstream of her Democratic Party, according to Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone.
He writes:
Less than a week before Clinton’s outburst, the New York Times — once a symbol of stodgy, hyper-cautious reporting — ran a feature called, “What, Exactly, is Tulsi Gabbard Up To?” The piece speculated about the “suspicious activity” surrounding Gabbard’s campaign, using quotes from the neoconservative think-tank, the Alliance For Securing Democracy, to speculate about Gabbard’s Russian support.
That article, Taibbi notes, was actually the second time the paper had speculated that Gabbard is a Russian stooge. In August, the paper published, “Tulsi Gabbard thinks we’re doomed,” and it laid out nearly the exact same talking points as the more recent ‘Tulsi is a Russian agent’ piece.
The earlier article claimed that Gabbard is “the Kremlin’s preferred Democrat,” and that she’s a “useful agent of influence” — all based on her opposition to the United States military being forced to participate in “regime-change” wars like the one in Syria (Gabbard, by the way, is a major in the Hawaii Army National Guard and an Iraq war vet, so she has credibility on this issue).
Aside from the fact that it’s obvious the Left-wing NYTimes doesn’t want Gabbard anywhere near the 2020 Democratic nomination, the “you’re Russian asset” allegations are being tossed around by Democrats and their media allies like they mean something.
Taibbi noted that only a few of the 2020 Dem candidates “gently chided” Hillary for her conspiracy theories. Gabbard, however, went after her with both barrels, correctly labeling her the “queen of warmongers.” At that point, the Left bolted to Hillary’s side, proving again that their strategy of character assassination these days is to claim there’s a Russian agent behind ever pro-America-first politician.
It’s nonsense, of course — even former special counsel Robert Mueller at least admitted that much. If anything, over the years Democrats have had a penchant for sidling up to Moscow, and that includes Clinton: Remember her ridiculous “reset button” stunt early in her tenure as Obama’s first secretary of state?
