It’s been quite the trip to watch the tech giants go from completely denying that they engage in any type of censorship whatsoever to actually enshrining censorship policies into their official terms of service.
This is what Twitter is doing by adding a section on “shadow banning” to its upcoming “community standards” revisions, which will allow the platform to “limit the visibility” of users it deems to be in violation.
As of January 1, 2020, Twitter will grant itself the liberty to “remove or refuse to distribute any Content,” as well as “limit distribution or visibility of any Content on the service,” at will. Twitter is also planning to “suspend or terminate users” and “reclaim usernames” for any reasons it chooses.
“The social media giant is telling users that it reserves the right to shadow ban or ‘throttle’ or censor certain accounts,” writes Mac Slavo for SHTFplan.com about these changes, which will only apply to Twitter users who live outside the European Union or European Economic Area.
“And it is not clear on what basis it will make those decisions, although we guess (based on their past which is rife with censorship) that accounts that aren’t parroting the government’s official narrative will be on the list.”

National security expert David Reaboi, who writes for The Federalist, recently tweeted about how he had last year spoken to representatives from Twitter who flat-out denied that they in any way interfere with or manipulate people’s tweets and Twitter accounts.
Twitter’s official position at the time was that “we do not shadow ban,” and that was supposedly the end of it. But it’s now apparent that Twitter was lying all along, and was, in fact, censoring and shadow banning people’s tweets.
“Last year, when I spoke to Twitter reps, they lied and gaslight(ed) us about their targeted manipulation of people’s tweets,” Reaboi explains. “Now it’s in their new TOS (terms of service).”
Twitter’s stated goal is to get rid of all the “bad-faith actors” on its platform, which is just Big Tech-speak for getting rid of conservatives, Trump-supporters, Christians, and really anyone who rejects any portion of the globalist agenda.
Earlier this year, the group Project Veritas was suspended from Twitter for exposing similar censorship tactics taking place at Pinterest, which has prohibited the pinning of content questioning the safety and effectiveness of vaccines.
The fact that Project Veritas was axed by Twitter simply for telling the truth proves that Twitter is overtly anti-free speech, and is now planning to immortalize its opposition to the First Amendment by incorporating shadow banning into its official day-to-day operations.
“One strategy is to shadow ban so you have ultimate control,” admitted former Twitter software engineer Abhinov Vadrevu to Project Veritas.
“The idea of a shadow ban is that you ban someone but they don’t know they’ve been banned because they keep posting and no one sees their content. So they just think that no one is engaging with their content when in reality, no one is seeing it.”
In other words, tech platforms like Twitter are affording varying degrees of content exposure to their users depending on how closely aligned these users are with Twitter’s agenda. Support the deep state? Full exposure for you! Support Donald Trump? No more exposure for you! It’s really that simple.
“The new terms will make shadow bans an official policy, all but guaranteeing continued cries of bias and censorship from the platform’s many critics will be silenced,” concludes Slavo.
